Unmissable views, live music and fabulous cocktails: the Alicante terraces you must visit.
Summer is many people’s favourite season. Maybe because it’s the time to make ‘easy’ decisions, like going to the sea or the mountains, swimming at the beach or in the pool and wearing a bikini or swimming costume. But if there’s one thing most people agree on, it’s that it’s good to be outside, and if it’s with a cold drink in hand, even better.
Rooftops have become fashionable places to be, although in the Spanish city of Alicante it’s busy all year round. Rooftops, the hidden terraces on the roofs of buildings or hotels, have also become very popular recently.
Here are some of the most popular places to visit during the summer, either for their views or because they offer original cocktails and live music.
La Milagrosa
In Calle Villavieja, you’ll find La Milagrosa Rooftop, the terrace of B&B La Milagrosa. Here you can enjoy all kinds of tapas: croquettes, spicy octopus or candied artichokes.
Visitors come especially for the view, as from La Milagrosa you can see the Santa Bárbara castle at the top of the Benacantil mountain or the Santa María basilica. Open Monday to Sunday, and at weekends until 01:00.
PuntaPiedra
If there’s one terrace that’s all the rage this summer, it’s the recently inaugurated Puntapiedra, the Forty Group’s new ‘coastal club’, where summer is an eternal season and a ‘lifestyle’. With over three thousand square metres of space, Puntapiedra has been designed as a leisure area that avoids rushing.
Chef Pablo Montoro, head of the resort’s gourmet restaurant, is in charge of the kitchen. Live music, DJs, shows and pyrotechnics will liven things up. The Puntapiedra will be open from Monday to Sunday, from 11am to 3.30am, with a full programme of activities.
Boga, du Port Alicante
The Boga Sky Lounge is the recently opened terrace of the Port Alicante hotel, which offers seasonal cuisine, signature cocktails and some of the best views of Playa de San Juan. Within its menu, the ‘avant-garde dishes’ stand out, where Mediterranean and Asian cuisine coexist. Undoubtedly, a perfect place to get lost and disconnect from the routine without having to leave Alicante.
The rooftop terrace of the Hotel Port Alicante is located at Avenida Cataluña, 20, Playa de San Juan, Alicante. Open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday from 7:30 pm until 1:00 am.
La terrasse de Amérigo
Cocktails and sushi day and night”: that’s the proposition of La Terraza de Amérigo, the rooftop of the Hospes Amérigo. Located on Calle Mayor, the terrace offers spectacular panoramic views over the city of Alicante.
From garden to table, gourmet tapas, classics, from land to sea, desserts and signature cocktails to enjoy a special moment in good company at this luxury hotel in Alicante. Open Monday to Sunday, 11am to 11pm.
Cuppola
For the past two years, Cuppola, a DormirDeCine rooftop restaurant and cocktail service, has been located in the old town.
The rooftop overlooks Casa Carbonell, but what really sets it apart are its film-inspired cocktails. From the love story between Aladdin and Princess Jasmine to horror films like The Shining. In Via Gravina, open Wednesday to Sunday from 5.30pm to midnight.
